FRIDAY EVENING (VIERNES) -October 10, 2008
Common Element: Musicality - All Levels
7:00-8:30PM MUSICALITY. Connection with the music is a "hidden", yet one of the
most important, qualities in a tango dancer. In this lesson we will are going to
practice how to find the musical elements that will fuel our dance to a higher level.
8:30-9:30PM Open Practica
8:45-9:45PM Private Lesson

SATURDAY MORNING (SABADO)- October 11, 2008
10:00AM-1:00PM	Private Lessons will be available

SATURDAY AFTERNOON & EVENING (SABADO) - October 11, 2008
2:30-3:45PM GIROS. We are going to see some old milonguero-tested
giros that are essential not only for navigation but also to add
dynamism to our tango and waltz.
4:00-5:15PM SACADAS. In this lesson we will review the technical
basics of sacadas and we will apply it to the giro structures that we have studied in the
previous lesson (assistance to both of the lessons is not required but recommended).

EVENING MILONGA IS AT OUR REGULAR START TIME
7:30PM-11:00PM	MILONGA (Argentine Tango Social Dance Party!)**
- General Public Welcome**
(Tango Viejo, Classic, Golden Age, and a bit of Modern, Tango, Val, Milonga Music by "djgregk")

SUNDAY MORNING (DOMINGO) - October 12, 2008
10:00AM-1:00PM	Private Lessons will be available

SUNDAY AFTERNOON (DOMINGO) - October 12, 2008
2:30-3:45PM MILONGA. This rhythm, considered the easiest by many
old milongueros, is usually the most elusive for nowadays' dancers. In this lesson
we will work on the musicality of the milonga so as to get the feeling that makes
those expert dancers claim that it is so accessible.
4:00-5:15PM RESHAPING THE BASIC STEP. The basic step is not only
a pedagogical tool. Its core (the lead to the follower's cross) is one of the
choreographic and technical landmarks of this whole dance. In this lesson we will study
this lead plus different combinations regarding how to get to and out of it.
5:15-6:00 PM Open Practica

MORE INFORMATION ON MAXIMILIANO GLUZMAN

BIOGRAPHICAL INFO

Maximiliano Gluzman started dancing in 1997. He soon discovered milonguero style and studied with the most renowned Argentine teachers in this style: Susana Miller, Ana Maria Schapira, Pedro "Tete" Rusconi, Pocho y Neli, Ricardo Vidort and Jorge Kero. Even if his main source of practice has been dancing in the milonga through endless hours, he has also embraced teaching as a main activity.

He taught at Susana Miller's La Academia in Buenos Aires at all levels as well as with Milva Bernardi. Maximiliano was one of the organizers of the International Milonguero Meeting that took place in Buenos Aires in February 2007.

The tango that Maxi transmits is based upon communication between dancers in a continuously close embrace, musical interpretation and respectful navigation in the dance floor. Consequently, his lessons are based on posture, leading and following, and musicality as a source of creativity. He focus on improvisation as key to develop a dance that is funny and enjoyable for the couple, while they can still comfortably circulate in a limited space.

HOSTS REQUESTED FOR OUT-OF-TOWN GUESTS COMING IN FOR THE WORKSHOPS

Maxi's visits to Iowa City have been well-attended and comments on them are universally positive. We are very pleased Maxi is coming back for a fourth visit, and hope this can continue. We are glad Iowa City has become a regular destination when he is traveling in the United States!

If you wish to host out-of-town guests coming in for the weekend that can be a great help to the success of the weekend. More folks are hearing about Iowa City as a place to dance and learn tango. Contact Juan Marcos 319-354-1526 if you can make space available for guests coming in for our Maxi Gluzman Workshop Weekend. THANKS!
