D.J. Faythe has found a new location for the "PUBLIC DANCES!" It's in the Bedroom Community of Atkins, close to Cedar Rapids. It's fast and easy to get to the town of Atkins. It's a 4-lane highway except for the last 2 miles. See directions below.

D.J. Fayth Kubik is excited about the facility. It's well taken care of and has a lovely wood floor! Of course, it's not as big as the ibew hall, but it's a nice size. Plus, there's an upper and lower level. The upper floor has the wood floor and the lower level is a linoleum floor. We can run speakers down there & use both levels.

The restrooms are clean and have just been redone this summer. As far as smoking goes, here's what I'm going to try...The lower level will have smoking tables. I will *also* have two tables (close to me, in the front) for smokers. The rest of the upper level will be non-smoking.

Directions to Atkins Memorial Union:

  1. Take Interstate 380 to Hwy 30
  2. Go west on Hwy 30 for 10 miles (towards Tama)
  3. Take the Atkins turnoff, North Hwy 279
  4. Go 2 miles to Main Avenue and turn right. This will bring you to downtown Atkins. The Memorial Union and the American Leion are the same and on the left side.

Note: Main Avenue is at the stopsign. The stopsign is right before the Hwy sign that gives you the miles to Shellsburg and right before the Ampride convenience store.
