This building was used as a residence. It is the "newest" pre-1932 home in South Amana. It was the last home to be built from the local brick. It was erected in 1900.
There is some interesting history about the site of this house. Prior to the brick home being built a log cabin stood on the premisis. This building was purchased from the farmer who originally owned the land encompassing South Amana. This man was named Whiting. The cabin was actually moved to this spot on skids when the workers began building the village.
The current residents do lots of things with traditional plantings. They also own the Kinderschule across the alley to the east. This building is a private residence.
