Research Topic - 20th Century Iowa - Politics So what has been happening in Iowa over the last 100 years. Politically it has had it's ups and downs. One of its sons has been elected president a number of others have chased the dream but fallen short. A number of Iowans have sat next to the throne of power in American politics. One of the daughters of Iowa has been a first lady to one of America's most admired generals and presidents.
